Back to Journal  « The Second Foundation of Chapel Hill Comics | Rejection #113 on Submission #198 | Twice in the Rain, Two Rejections, 200th Sub, New Play, etc. » Rejection #113 on Submission #198 March 7, 2005 (Selected republication of old entries from the pre-Movable Type journal...) Last out, first one back. Four Day rejection on a humor story sent to Carnifex Press for its latest Clash of Steel chapbook-anthology: "...passed it along to our second round of reading..." but "...not a proper fit with the already accepted tales." Pretty well traveled for a four day turnaround. The rejection came in on Friday, straight to my junk mail folder, which I guess now handles every other hotmail address with rubber gloves. Have to start cleaning the folder out more often, though with over 250 spams a day and over six thousand unconfirmed messages currently piled up... Sent the story back out this weekend as Submission #199 to an unusual project, not for its own publication, but as an "audition" to write another story for publication if this one's accepted. World's a crazy place. Now what piece is worthy of my "200th Sub?" Filed under Journal, Prose and Poetry

His work has appeared/will appear in Asimov's Science Fiction, The Rambler, LCRW, Weird Tales, The Florida Review, Futurismic, ChiZine, Pif, and Dragon. Locus Magazine has called him a "promising new writer," and Publishers Weekly also has nice things to say. Alex runs the audiobook project/podcast Telltale Weekly and the writer wiki Guidevines. He publishes the minicomic/zine Inconsequential Art. He is a 2006 Clarion graduate.
