Back to Journal ![]() « The Clarion Conundrum 2006 | Narrating for Escape Pod | Training for a Marathon » Narrating for Escape Pod December 8, 2005 My narration of Robots and Falling Hearts by Tim Pratt and Greg Van Eekhout is up today at Escape Pod. It was originally published in Realms of Fantasy. Escape Pod founder Stephen Eley and I have been talking about collaboration options since EP's launch earlier this year, but up to this point the most we've actually implemented is an exchange of links. So I jumped at the chance when he told me on Friday that another reader missed the deadline on "Robots" and (sigh) how great it would be if he could still release it this week as planned. I recorded and edited it on Monday (my fastest turnaround yet on a story over half an hour), and Stephen added some distortion to my voice for the robot dialogue. Not my best read ever, but I'm proud of a lot of the choices I made, and I'm glad to have been a part of the project's first year. Comments: Discuss this entry at LiveJournalHey, Alex, I really enjoyed your reading. Tim and I had a lot of fun writing that story, and it was also bunches of fun to listen to. Posted by: Greg van Eekhout at December 8, 2005 4:07 PM I listened to this yesterday, and really enjoyed the performance. My short-short "Night Off" is going up at the Pod on Christmas Eve; has Steve talked to you at all about reading it? I'm not sure who he's got slated (it's so short that he might just do it himself), but I think you could bring a lot to the reading. Posted by: Jason Erik Lundberg at December 16, 2005 10:08 AM Thanks, guys. Jason - No, Steve's got a big stable of contributing readers--mostly existing podcasters looking at crosspromotion. And I don't know that I'd have a chance to do any more recording through the end of the year anyway. But that's great about your story. I'll look forward to listening to it. But that reminds me--I should submit some of my reprints to him... Alex. Posted by: alex at December 18, 2005 11:50 AM |
