Back to Journal ![]() « Clarion West Journals | My Luck is Back in Balance | Untitled Pretention Pontificated by a Passive Voice » My Luck is Back in Balance June 22, 2006 Two firsts, two days before I leave for Clarion. 1. External hard drive failure. I probably have backups of the important stuff, but I gotta figure out what was on there before it died. I was moving a lot of stuff around, trying to limit it to what I needed at Clarion. This was a long process that now must practically start over. 2. I recorded for 4+ hours this week, mostly for the Clarion podcast, and it's all unusable. I accidentally hit a reverb/echo effect button meant for guitars and there's no way to remove it from the spoken word audio. I didn't discover it until I was all done, and was about to start editing. In 2.5 years of using this machine, that's never happened to me before. Crap. Crap. Crap. And I was just starting to feel like I was getting ahead, too. Filed under Clarion, Journal
Comments: Discuss this entry at LiveJournalOuch on the computer glitch stuff - hopefully you will get everything sorted out today so you won't feel too stressed before you leave for Lansing. Maybe it's time for a few loud FREAK OUT moments, before you resume programming as normal? Posted by: Mallory at June 22, 2006 11:30 AM Oh, gods! I send you a mental hug. Both those things really, really suck. :( Posted by: Shveta at June 22, 2006 11:31 AM Thanks for the support! I have been rerecording on-and-off since 8AM, and if this works it'll be the lowest-pitch recording of my voice ever (I generally record in afternoons just for this reason). And now I have no voice left. I'm off to spill some of my angry blood (by giving it to the Red Cross; no, this isn't a cry for help). Maybe that'll put my humours back in alignment. Posted by: Alex at June 22, 2006 11:56 AM Argh. I feel your pain. That really sucks. Posted by: Mur at June 22, 2006 3:02 PM |
