Back to Journal  « NaNoWriMo 2006 Epilogue | 2006 Submission Log Cleanup, 2007 Targets | Outgoing in Asimov's Feb 07 - Out Now! » 2006 Submission Log Cleanup, 2007 Targets December 31, 2006 Finishing off the year with subs through 327 and Rejection #213: Query to Fan-Atic Press (comics) and fiction subs to Clarkesworld (my 3rd), Fantasy (my 1st), and Lone Star Stories (my first fiction sub there). And the Lone Star rejection came within a few hours of sending it. So for posterity's sake: 2006 Submissions: 73 for the year 2006 Rejections: 56 (including outstanding subs from 2005; 41) 2006 Milestones: First pro fiction sale ("Outgoing" in Asimov's). Biggest comics story acceptance/publication ("Persistent City" in The Florida Review). Clarion attendance. 300th sub. 200th Rejection. Currently Outstanding: 23 subs Total subs since Nov 1998: 327 Rejections since Nov 1998: 213 Pulled/No Reply since Nov 1998: 49 Next year I intend to focus on longer works, so we'll see how those numbers do. 2007 milestone targets: Novel finished (submission-ready), second novel begun. Graphic novel script finished (submission- or artist-ready). 350th Submission, 250th Rejection. Two more professional fiction sales. Two more significant comics story publications. Locus Magazine has called him a "promising new writer," and Publishers Weekly also has nice things to say. Alex runs the audiobook project/podcast Telltale Weekly and the writer wiki Guidevines.
