Prose & Poetry Three first drafts of short stories (been working on speed rather than final draftiness), which I will try to get submission-ready this next quarter. Sent out my 250th submission, but failed to submit a story to Writers of the Future for the quarter. After a ten hour drive with two kittens in the car on Saturday (the 31st), I just didn't have the time or energy to highball it to the post office by midnight yesterday. My story wasn't really submission-ready anyway, so I guess it's not such a bad thing. Looks like my tenth submission to WOTF will have to wait another quarter. For the first time in about five years, I have stories now at Asimov's, Analog, and MF&SF, the three big-yet-digest-sized science fiction periodicals. Comics Saw Mario Boon's completiom of my five page story for the Hope anthology from Ronin Studios. The original plan was to solicit last month in Diamond Previews for a February release, but some late stories encouraged them to push everything back a good month or two. Haven't heard yet whether they're on track for that deadline. Finished my first full length comic book script (two issues in fact) in October, but alas my artist was stolen away by paid work from TokyoPop so I wasn't able to submit anything this year to the Dark Horse talent search. Sent my second query to 2000 AD. Quickly rejected. Drama and Film Helped rewrite "The Sag," a short film by Jeremy Pinham, and performed the title role. Intermission, a film written by Steve Milligan and myself, filmed in Rhode Island. Two short plays written and submitted. Misc. Adopted two stray kittens from the animal shelter. Began training for a marathon. Began work on Guidevines. 2006 Quarter 1 Goals Launch Guidevines. Apply to Clarion. Write three short (submission-ready) stories, including a WOTF entry. Edit "The Sag," possibly film pickups for "The Sag," and try to talk myself out of scoring "The Sag." Query 2000 AD (again) and Marvel. Clean and organize both my office and my digital files. Reach the half-way point in Marathon training and possibly run a half-marathon. Possibly help rewrite Intermission as the final scenes and pickups get shot. Possibly collaborate with director Donald Whittier of Banzai Entertainment on a feature screenplay. I played a bit role in Donald's last film, shot this past summer. Possibly take an online writing course by James Gunn, if the class hasn't filled up by the time they receive my application.
