Single Point of Divergence Tale

A variety of alternate history story wherein one event occurred differently than it did in actual history, and all subsequent events are changed based upon this divergence. Most often this type of story relies strictly upon a point-of-departure that was possible and feasible at the time, and all subsequent developments are based upon extrapolations of known historical realities (i.e. no fantastic elements.)
