Science Fiction is a genre of Fiction wherein one of the main Story Elements is based on scientific discovery or theory, space travel, time travel, or interaction with alien species. There are many disagreements regarding the placement of the genre in regards to Fantasy. For many years, all science fiction and fantasy titles were shelved together in the same section. However, many argue that science fiction greatly differs from fantasy, and should therefore be its own section, while others argue that science fiction is actually a subgenre of fantasy.
