From Guidevines, a user-editable wiki for writersFrom Guidevines
John W. Campbell Award for Best New Writer (not to be confused with the John W Campbell Award for best novel) is given to a new science fiction or fantasy writer whose first work of science fiction or fantasy appearing in a professional publication was published in the previous two years. For the 2006 award, which is presented at the World Science Fiction Convention (Worldcon), the qualifying work must have been published in 2004 or 2005. Although the award is presented at Worldcon, it is not considered to be a Hugo Award.
Guidevines plays host to an unofficial database of writers eligible for the award called the Nomineer. See the JWC-BNW Award Site for more details about this award.
