[edit] Holly Lisle

Holly Lisle (1960-) is a writer of Fantasy, Science Fiction, Romantic Suspense, and Paranormal Romance novels. A former registered nurse, she sold her first novel in 1991 and quit nursing in 1993 to pursue writing full-time.

Holly was born in Salem, OH. From there, her family moved back and forth between Ohio and places such as Kwethluk, Alaska; San Jose, Costa Rica; and Chiquimula, Guatemala. Currently, she is raising three children and several cats.

In addition to her novels, Holly has also become well-known for helping other writers. In 1998, she founded Forward Motion for Writers. Holly was in charge of the site until 2003, when she handed the reins over to Lazette Gifford, who also took over Holly's newsletter, Vision: A Resource for Writers, which features articles about all areas of writing for writers at any level. Forward Motion remains a large on-line community for writers to learn from and encourage each other. Meanwhile, Holly still maintains Workshops on her website.

Her book Mugging the Muse: Writing Ficton for Love AND Money, in which she offers her advice on how to become a full-time author, is available for free download. Holly has often stated that her goal in creating communities and resources such as Forward Motion and her workshops is to help others with a "Pay Forward" philosophy.

In 2006, Holly started her own e-Book publishing company, Shop.HollyLisle.Com/OneMoreWord Publishing. She also launched her own podcast. In the podcast, Holly discusses everything from worldbuilding to the publishing industry itself and answers questions from her audience.
