High Country News seeks science fiction fiction submissions for its June 2006 issue.

Theme: "imagining what the West might look like in 50 years... stories of a future West in which people have learned to live sustainably in the region. We're not looking for idyllic utopia, necessarily, but a realistic assessment of people and their place in the landscape."

Deadline: March 30, 2006.

Pays 30 cents per word for stories up to 3,500 words.
