Black Ink Horror is a market for horror.
Dark horror short stories from 1,000 to 3,000 words. Payment for selected fiction is $10, paid via Pay-Pal.
From their Web page: A digest-sized, black and white magazine of horror fiction and art with a classical aesthetic. Each of the stories printed in BLACK INK HORROR will sport two, full-page pen and ink illustrations. Our goal for BIH is twofold: to publish affecting horror fiction that represents the full-gamut of sub-genres, and to reintroduce the untapped and under-appreciated art form that is pen and ink.
BIH bills itself as "The Illustrated Digest of Dark Fiction." The first issue was denominated "Volume 1, Issue #0," and contained 26 pages with three stories. Volume 1, Issue #1 contained 90 pages and ten stories. Issues are profusely illustrated with pen-and-ink drawings appropriate to the genre, and which some viewers may find disturbing. Examples on their Web site are typical.
In May, 2007, a purchase of Volume 1, Issue #1 included a copy of Issue #0 serial-numbered as "52," although their Web site states, "All copies of issue #0 are now gone!"
Issues are undated with no statement available as to the planned frequency of publication. Subscriptions are not taken; sale is by individual editions.
